Manroop Kaur is a Sikh children’s author based in Southampton. Encouraged to read from a young age, she developed a lasting love of books and discovered her own interest in creative writing while at university. This journey led to her debut children’s book, Hazoor Kaur and The Lost Toy, inspired by her desire to introduce Sikh teachings to children in meaningful and engaging ways.

Manroop also draws inspiration from Panjabi storytelling traditions and the bedtime stories shared by her Bibi Ji. These memories continue to remind her of the power stories hold in passing culture, values and faith from one generation to the next. Through her writing, she hopes to make Sikhi relatable and enjoyable for younger readers, allowing Sikh children to see themselves represented and develop a deeper connection with their faith.
