Shukrana was created to help Sikh children develop a deep sense of gratitude rooted in their faith, cultural heritage, and everyday experiences. While many children’s books on gratitude exist, few represent Sikh values, Gurmukhi terms, or the teachings of Gurbani in an accessible, age-appropriate way.
This book fills that gap by combining Sikh spiritual concepts with relatable, sensory-rich reflections and interactive activities, encouraging children to see Vaheguru’s blessings in every moment. It serves both as a keepsake for families and a practical tool for parents, educators, and gurdwaras to nurture mindfulness, positivity, and a strong Sikh identity from an early age.

Shukrana is a beautiful way to introduce children to gratitude through Sikh teachings, Gurmukhi words and the blessings they can notice in everyday life.
What I love most is that it gives Sikh families a book in which their children can see their faith reflected. Amrit Kaur Sidhu has made those ideas feel accessible to young readers and Gagandeep Kaur Chahal’s illustrations bring them to life.
A lovely book for families who want to nurture gratitude and help their children feel connected to Sikhi. 📚✨
Incredible! My nephew absolutely loved this book and even pointed out “he looks like me” when he saw the boy in the patka!
We loved the message and representation shown in the book too. I’d definitely recommend it x
An absolutely wonderful book, enjoyed by my 3, 5 and 7 year olds. I love the use of Sikhi based and Punjabi words like "Kudrat" which invite discussion about their deep meanings. My children love the illustrations and spot something different each time. The meaning behind each page is powerful linking gratitude within Sikhi lessons. We love the activities at the end which really help to personalise gratitude for each child. A book that makes Sikhi practical and applicable to children is really inspiring and powerful. The lessons from Shukrana are ones I hope my children will hold dear forever, hopefully they will be continually anchored back to Sukhrana, Shukrana, Sukhrana.
We cannot wait for the authors next book as this book has been read daily in our house to practice gratitude before their prayers.
